ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Sunday strongly deplored “political drama” of some elements to the departure of former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf, describing it as’ mere hypocrisy and shows its double moral ‘.
Musharraf name has been removed from the exit control list (ECL) in the light of the judgment of the Supreme Court, he said in a statement issued here.
Criticizing the previous government of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), he said during his five-year long tenure, Musharraf’s name was not included in the ECL despite the existence of an FIR against him.
The minister even said that the PPP, now opposes Musharraf output, he remained friendly with him and did not
even talk about it during his tenure.
Musharraf made four trips abroad, while the PPP was in power, the minister said, adding that the party is met National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) as friendship with former President General Pervez Musharraf during his tenure.
He said an investigation committee in 2009 had suggested that the general could be involved in the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, but regretted that the then rulers do not dare to take action against Musharraf.
